Frontend Lead

Nina Becker

Berlin, Germany

Twenty years of frontend, half of it spent making animated game UIs feel inevitable. Nina is why Keltus sites move the way they do.

Nina built her first website at fifteen, in Flash, for her father's bicycle shop in a small town outside Hamburg. By her early twenties she was at a major German game studio — first as a UI artist, then leading the team that built the in-game HUD and menu systems for several internationally released RPG titles. The discipline that drag-racing animation timings against gameplay frames imprinted on her — every millisecond visible, every hover discoverable — is the same discipline she now brings to web UI.

She moved to web full-time in 2016, found Astro in its earliest beta, and never went back. Her opinion on JavaScript frameworks is uncomplicated: "use the smallest amount you can get away with." Every Keltus site that ships at 99–100 Lighthouse has had Nina's hands on it.

Nina is fluent in German, English, French, and Polish, and conducts code reviews in whichever language puts the reviewee most at ease. She lives in Prenzlauer Berg with her husband (a violinist) and the loudest cat in Berlin.
